Anysphere, Inc., doing business as Cursor, is an American artificial intelligence software company that develops Cursor, an AI coding agent and integrated development environment built on a fork of Visual Studio Code.[2][5][6][15] Cursor integrates generative AI models and agentic workflows to provide repo-wide code understanding, autonomous multi-file editing, and natural-language coding assistance across the entire development lifecycle.[4][12][15] Founded in 2022 by four MIT students and based in San Francisco, the company has rapidly scaled as one of the leading AI coding tools used by professional software engineers.[4][7][8][13] In November 2025, Cursor reported having a team of over 300 engineers, researchers, designers, and operators supporting its product and research efforts.[14]
